"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." When I went back teaching in 1995, it was part time. I had two art classes 8 lessons a week. It wasn't long before I was also doing a little bit of relief work as well, when other teachers were absent. I noticed that whenever I asked God for money for something, I would get asked to do more relief work. One day I said to God, "It would be nice if I didn't have to work for the money. It would be nice if it just dropped from the sky so to speak". A short while later I suddenly noticed that I had about $22,000 more in my bank account. I thanked God for it, thinking He had answered my prayer.....but then I wondered who had put it there. Sometimes a couple I knew put money into peoples account and I thought it might have been them. When I enquired at the bank, they said it was some one from the South Island. I was given the bank phone number and phoned the bank. They said that the money must have been put into the wrong account. The person had the same account number as me and had deposited the money before going on Holiday. They had wanted to use the money when they came back from overseas. I was disappointed. Someone said that I should just leave the money in my own account and get some interest on it at least, but I felt that this was wrong. I went back to my bank to authorize the money to go back to the rightful owners. It was a good lesson. Money always comes from somewhere. Some one else would have to lose it for me to get it. June 2007 For my birthday this year my daughter gave me just what I had been wanting!...
an electronic photo frame that can rotate through my digital art images.
I had contacted a company asking them if they were interested in making
me one a few years before but they were not. Now they can be bought quite
easily! When this present arrived the Holy Spirit brought part of a bible
verse into my mind. "He will give you the desires of your heart".
After arriving in Australia in 2000, a visitor suggested that a pale colour dooner cover would really draw attention to our lovely bed head. So I started looking for one but never saw one that I really liked. I wanted one that would also fit in with the curtains - so that I would not need to change them as well. This month I looked at our existing dooner cover and showed my husband how thin it was looking and told him that I had been looking for a new one but had not found one. A few days later he showed me some junk mail, advertising discounts on bedding, which was surprising. We don't normally get any junk mail because we have a "No Junk Mail" sign on our letter box. On the day my birthday present arrived, we went to look at the junk mail sale. Peter saw a dooner and called me to go over to view it. It was just right! It was pale and yet still had exactly the right colours in it - burgundy to match our curtains and existing sheets and valance. I also saw a pillow for half price and thought I might try it as my pillow had been uncomfortable since a car accident in 2006. It was just what I was needing! That night as I looked at the dooner cover, the flowers reminded me of those I had embroidered on my wedding dress - representing "sunshine, blue skies and flowers". God had indeed given me my hearts desire, and 3 things in one day. What a lovely birthday present from a caring God. July 2008 It was the last day of the school term and we were enjoying a special morning tea. I was eating some salty chippies and noticed that a colleague was drinking coke. I thought, "Coke would be nice". Chippies often make me feel like having a fizzy drink to go with it. After morning tea I went into my department staff room and a colleague was just asking everyone if there was anyone who drank Coke and would like a can. He was cleaning out the fridge and didn't want the last can of Coke. No one answered so I said I would! My walking in the door at that moment was perfect timing! God had given me something I had fleetingly wanted. I remembered the bible verse I had read that morning. God had blessed King David because He "wanted to be kind to him, because of His own great heart" (Chronicles 17:19). God had been kind towards me, not for anything I had done. He had a great heart.
